Aging Treatments

Is it bad for teenagers to have an early start on anti-Aging Treatment?
Under the age of 25-30, the best anti-aging routine is fairly simple.
1. Drink plenty of WATER.
2. Stay out of the sun, and use sunscreen or sunblock with an SPF of at least 15 EVERY DAY – even in the winter. A moisturizing cream/serum with sunscreen or a foundation with sunscreen will do the trick.
3. Wash your face every day using a gentle soap and water. Water alone will not be enough to remove the impurities.
4. Don’t smoke and avoid second-hand smoke. It not only ages your skin faster, but also can be a culprit for acne breakouts.
5. Only exfoliate 1-2x a week, unless you have severe acne-prone skin, then exfoliate at least every other day. Exfoliating removes dead skin cells, showing your smooth skin underneath.
6. Exercise, and eat healthy. Your skin needs vitamins and minerals from your healthy diet to stay healthy and maintain elasticity. While sweat is gross, breaking out a sweat during a workout is actually good for your skin, as long as you wash your face afterwards. The sweat forces dirt and oil out of your pores.
A teenager is YOUNG and has YOUNG SKIN….the kind of skinth at the rest of us 25 and over are trying to achieve!

Aging and Identity $155 Viewing artistic works through the lens of both contemporary gerontological theory and postmodernist concepts, the contributing scholars examine literary treatments, cinematic depictions, and artistic portraits of aging from Shakespeare to Hemingway, from Horton Foote to Disney, from Rembrandt to Alice Neale, while also comparing the attitudes toward aging in Native American, African American, and Anglo American literature. The examples demonstrate that long before gerontologists endorsed a Janus-faced model of aging, artists were celebrating the diversity of the elderly, challenging the bio-medical equation of senescence with inevitable senility. Underlying all of this discussion is the firm conviction that cultural texts construct as well as encode the conventional perceptions of their society; that literature, the arts, and the media not only mirror society's mores but can also help to create and enforce them. |

Challenges of Biological Aging $70 This volume provides the non-biologist an overview of what is known about the physiological bases of aging. The author examines the many basic theories and emerging hypotheses underlying the molecular, cellular, and systemic processes involved in senescence. He addresses the normal physiological changes that characterize the aging phenotype, and also considers the role of many age-associated diseases in growing older. Masoro synthesizes a much-needed "unified theory" of biological aging to which explains how and why the body grows into the condition we call "old." This text is intended for gerontology students in training, as well as for human physiologists interested in gerontology. OLD COPY:. What is the biological basis of aging?? Why does aging occur? This volume will provide the reader with an overview of what we know about the biology of aging. In a clearly written and accessible style, the author examines the many theories and hypotheses underlying the molecular, cellular, and systemic processes involved in growing older. Also considered are the many age-associated diseases and physiological changes that characterize aging, as well as interventions — from lifestyle modifications to pharmacological treatments — proposed to reverse age-related changes. He then synthesizes a much needed unifying concept of the biological basis of aging to help us understand why we grow old. This book is intended for students training to become gerontologists as well as biologists not conversant in the aging field. |

Treatments $67.5 Lisa Diedrich considers illness narratives, demonstrating that these texts not only recount symptoms but also describe illness as an event that reflects wider cultural contexts, including race, gender, class, and sexuality. Looking at narratives including Susan Sontag's Illness As Metaphor, Audre Lorde's The Cancer Journals, and Eve Kosofsky Sedgwick's ÒWhite Glasses,Ó Diedrich demonstrates how language both captures and fails to capture these Òscenes of lossÓ. |

The International Handbook on Aging $55 The United Nations World Assembly on Aging has made advancing health and well-being into old age a worldwide call for action. And this text at hand shows us what researchers worldwide are doing to answer that call. Here, three of America's most esteemed experts on aging lead a global team of contributors – each an expert in his or her country – to show us what the top challenges of each nation are, and what top research is being done there to meet those. While we cannot predict with absolute certainty all of the issues that will arise over the next 20 years, we can anticipate some and we must start now to prepare for these challenges, an expert from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services warned at a recent UN World Assembly on Aging. Needed response to the global population shift is not just the responsibility of governments, but will be a product of wise, long-term decisions made by individuals and societies, she explained. In most nations globally, populations are graying and the number of people aged 65 and older is vastly increasing, creating a larger segment of senior citizens than the world has ever before seen. Across human history, the elderly accounted for no more than 3 percent of the world population. By the year 2030, the elderly are expected to make up about 25 percent of the world population. And while longevity is of course seen as a great success, longer lifespan for such masses also creates dilemmas. For example, the incidence of dementia has already increased significantly with an 11-fold increase in people aged 65 and older in the US since the turn of the century, and a similar increase in aged people in Scotland has researchers there scrambling to find treatments for what they expect will be a 75 percent increase in dementia over the next 25 years. Chronic diseases that come with aging are already taxing health care systems in the US and around the world to Japan, with most experts aware their current health systems would be overru |

Stop Aging, Start Living $9.99 Though other skin-care experts have identified free radicals and cellular inflammation as key triggers to the breakdown of healthy skin, renowned dermatologist and former National Institutes of Health fellow Jeannette Graf, M.D., has discovered a way to prevent these saboteurs from developing in the first place—rather than just treating the symptoms they’ve caused. Based on the scientifically groundbreaking premise that our cells—and consequently our skin—can only function best when the pH balance of our body is at its proper level, Dr. Graf’s four-part plan focuses on changing your body’s ratio of acids to alkalines. Most of us tend to eat three acidic-building foods (like sugar, refined carbs, meat, and dairy) for every one alkalinizing food (dark green leafy vegetables, garlic, onions, olive oil, lemon, fruit, nuts and seeds, and whole grains)—the reverse of the ideal ratio. And while changing your diet is important, food is not the only way to shift this ratio or reverse the cell aging that’s affecting your skin. The plan also includes detailed information on: • daily alkalinizing “cocktails” • quality calcium-mineral supplements • probiotic supplements (good bacteria in a bottle) • how to assess your skin and care for it accordingly—choosing the right cleansers, moisturizers, and treatments that will give you the most noticeable results (hint: many of these products line the shelves of your local drugstore) • the joy prescription: activities that can add exhilaration and laughter to your life and increase the neuropeptides in the brain that actually rejuvenate skin cells • nutrients in foods that enhance cell energy production and cell signaling But don’t just take her word for it: Stop Aging, Start Living is filled with testimonials from her patients. Whether you want to see results fast (with her twenty-fou |
