Guidelines for Getting the Best Plastic Surgery Results
Plastic surgery is performed to change the appearance of a persons face or body. While it is popular all over the world, glamour hotspots in sunny California and tropical Florida are drawing people in droves. This has attracted some excellent plastic and cosmetic surgeons in places like Naples, Florida.
While plastic surgery is a great way to improve your appearance, the following guidelines may help you to choose wisely and make an informed decision.
Proper Credentials: It is important that the plastic or cosmetic surgeons, whether in Naples, Florida or at any place in United States, are certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS). This particular certification insures that the member cosmetic surgeon has undergone at least five years of surgical training, including two years of training specific to plastic surgery.
The surgeon should also be a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS). This membership requires that the surgeon has extensive cosmetic surgical experience and has met ASAPS requirements for continuing cosmetic surgery education.
Hospital privileges: Though cosmetic plastic surgery is often performed outside the hospital in an office-based surgical facility, patients should make certain that their cosmetic surgeon also has hospital privileges and can perform cosmetic procedures in an acute care hospital.
Facilities: Before choose a plastic surgeon, determine that the surgeon’s operating facilities have been accredited by a nationally or state-recognized accrediting agency and/or is state licensed. This is important as published data show that accredited office based facilities have a safety record comparable to that of hospital ambulatory surgery settings.
Health: Regardless of your choice of plastic surgery procedure –face lift, body contouring, breast reduction, breast augmentation, etc. and wherever it is to be performed (Florida or any other part of the world), it is essential that you are in good physical health. Be sure to disclose your complete health history including prescription and recreational drugs that you use. The medical history should also include details such as oral contraceptive use, estrogen replacement and over-the-counter products like vitamins, herbal medications and other supplements. These can potentially interfere with blood clotting or interact with medications used during surgery which might increase surgical risk.
Patient education: Before surgery, patients should be educated about all aspects of their planned surgery, including what to expect during the procedure, pain management, post operative care, expected healing time and when they may resume their normal activities. They should also be advised if medications should be discontinued and if they should stop smoking.
Risks: Usually cosmetic surgery is extremely safe when performed by surgeons certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. However, even with the highest level of care, every surgery carries risks which should be discussed thoroughly with the plastic surgeon prior to the procedure.
Postoperative monitoring and home care: In the immediate postoperative period, any patient undergoing cosmetic surgery should be monitored by qualified medical personnel and discharged from the surgical facility only after evaluation by the surgeon. Usually, cosmetic surgery is performed as an outpatient procedure; occasionally, the surgeon may recommend an overnight stay. Patients should arrange to have someone available for assistance for the first day or two following surgery. Postoperative care should continue until the surgeon discharges the patient from his or her care. This is generally when the patient has returned to a relatively normal routine.
If you are considering cosmetic surgery, these guidelines will help you to choose your cosmetic surgeon wisely and achieve the best possible results. Naples Florida is an ideal location for your procedure where you can recover in a beautiful and peaceful setting, enjoying the ambiance of a tropical paradise with all it has to offer along the Gulf of Mexico.

The Surgeon $3.48 In her most masterful novel of medical suspense, "New York Times" bestselling author Tess Gerritsen creates a villain of unforgettable evil–and the one woman who can catch him before he kills again. He slips into their homes at night and walks silently into bedrooms where women lie sleeping, unaware of the horrors they soon will endure. The precision of the killer’s methods suggests he is a deranged man of medicine, propelling the Boston newspapers and the frightened public to name him "The Surgeon." The cops’ only clue rests with another surgeon, the victim of a nearly identical crime. Two years ago, Dr. Catherine Cordell fought back and killed her attacker before he could complete his assault. Now she hides her fears of intimacy behind a cool and elegant exterior and a well-earned reputation as a top trauma surgeon. Cordell’s careful facade is about to crack as this new killer recreates, with chilling accuracy, the details of Cordell’s own ordeal. With every new murder he seems to be taunting her, cutting ever closer, from her hospital to her home. Her only comfort comes from Thomas Moore, the detective assigned to the case. But even Moore cannot protect Cordell from a brilliant hunter who somehow understands–and savors–the secret fears of every woman he kills. Filled with the authentic detail that is the trademark of this doctor turned author . . . and peopled with rich and complex characters–from the ER to the squad room to the city morgue–here is a thriller of unprecedented depth and suspense. Exposing the shocking link between those who kill and cure, punish and protect, "The Surgeon" is Tess Gerritsen’s most exciting accomplishment yet. "From the Hardcover edition." |

Nelson’s Surgeon $39.95 The death of Admiral Nelson on his flagship, the Victory, at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805 is the basis of a well-known story. This book focuses on William Beatty, the surgeon who attended Nelson in his last hours and was later to publicize the deathbed scene. It traces his life and career as a leading naval surgeon during the Napoleonic Wars and afterwards. – ;In the lead-up to the bicentenary of Trafalgar a number of important new studies have been published about the life of Nelson and his defeat of the Combined Fleet in 1805. Despite the significant role played by the health and fitness of the British crews in securing the victory, little has been written hitherto about the naval surgeon in the era of the long war against France. This book is intended to fill the gap. Sir William Beatty (1773-1842) was surgeon of the Victory at. Trafalgar. An Ulsterman from Londonderry, he had joined the navy in 1791. Before being warranted to Nelson's flagship, Beatty had served upon ten other warships, and survived a yellow fever epidemic, court martial, and shipwreck to share in the capture of a Spanish treasure ship. After Trafalgar, he. became Physician of the Channel Fleet, based at Plymouth, and eventually Physician to Greenwich Hospital, where he served until his retirement in 1838. As the book makes clear in drawing upon an extensive prosopographical database, Beatty's career until 1805 was representative of the experience of the approximately 2,000 naval surgeons who joined the navy in the course of the war. The first part of the biography provides a detailed and scholarly introduction to the professional education, training, and work of the naval surgeon. But after 1805 Beatty became a member of the service elite, and his career becomes interesting for other reasons. In the final decades of his life, Beatty was far more than a senior naval physician. As a Fellow of the Royal Society, director of the Clerical and Medical Insurance Company, and director of the |

The Last Surgeon $3.48 "The "New York Times "bestselling author and master of medical suspense delivers another shocker of a thriller filled with insider details and a terrifying psychopath "Four murders. Three accidents. Two suicides. One left… THE LAST SURGEON Michael Palmer’s latest novel pits a flawed doctor against a ruthless psychopath, who has made murder his art form. Dr. Nick Garrity, a vet suffering from PTSD—post traumatic stress disorder—spends his days and nights dispensing medical treatment from a mobile clinic to the homeless and disenfranchised in D.C. and Baltimore. In addition, he is constantly on the lookout for his war buddy Umberto Vasquez, who was plucked from the streets by the military four years ago for a secret mission and has not been seen since. Psych nurse Gillian Coates wants to find her sister’s killer. She does not believe that Belle Coates, an ICU nurse, took her own life, even though every bit of evidence indicates that she did—every bit save one. Belle has left Gillian a subtle clue that connects her with Nick Garrity. Together, Nick and Gillian determine that one-by-one, each of those in the operating room for a fatally botched case is dying. Their discoveries pit them against genius Franz Koller–the highly-paid master of the “non-kill”—the art of murder that does not look like murder. As Doctor and nurse move closer to finding the terrifying secret behind these killings, Koller has been given a new directive: his mission will not be complete until Gillian Coates and Garrity, the last surgeon, are dead. |
